The UK’s first X-Way 8x4 tipper delivered by Guest Truck & Van

Updated: Feb 9, 2022

One year on from the new IVECO X-Way appearing on UK roads, the tractor units have become an instant hit with operators and drivers.

A variety of chassis options and drive configurations for the X-WAY have come to market over the last 12 months, with the first 8x4 chassis now fitted with an aluminium aggregate tipper body built for JAB Haulage in Coventry and built by Swadlincote Aluminium & Welding Co.

The high specification S-Way is a Cursor 13, 510 BHP, ON+ set up with an active space, low roof, single bunk sleeper cab. The truck has been enhanced by a premium style pack and the addition of polished aluminium wheels.

Robert Spittle, MD at Guest Truck and Van - the company who sold the vehicle to JAB Haulage, said: “The X-Way is selling very well for us because its dramatic good looks are backed up by new technology and solid engineering.

“It was clear when we first saw prototype images of the X-Way that it was a radical new design and the reality of the production version really has not disappointed.

“Tractor units are always the first in a new truck range to leave the production line and many operators and drivers have been excited to see S-Ways added to fleets and that momentum continues to build as the first of a variety of chassis cab configurations hit the roads.”

The JAB Haulage tipper has had operational accessories fitted by VLS - Vehicle Lining Services - who have added a camera system, work lighting along both sides of the body as well as other safety equipment and a CB radio.

JAB Haulage is a family run business and is a returning Guest Truck and Van customer. Managing director Jason Binning said: “This is our third IVECO purchase and we came back to Guest Truck and Van because of the excellent sales and after sales service we’ve had from our rep.

“Our business is about moving aggregates, so we specified the 13 litre, 510bhp engine with some serious torque which will give us better usability as well as better fuel efficiency.

“I’m really pleased with how the truck looks. All of the accessories have been added for a purpose, not just to make it look good.

“The side lighting system allows us to work safely on dark winter days and even the polished aluminium wheels are fitted because they’re so easy to clean rather than for bling.

“I haven’t driven it myself yet, but I’m looking forward to it. The driver is already reporting that it’s more comfortable than the other manufacturer truck we replaced.”
